Modes of Treatment

Dr. Sunseth’s approach and treatment are always developed in concert with each individual client and collaborative in nature.  Different modalities are used for different situations and tailored to each individual based on the presenting issues, and on the individual’s state of readiness at the time. More specifically, Dr. Sunseth uses a variety of approaches in assisting clients including Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), insight-oriented, psychodynamic, and combinations of these approaches. In addition, the Parental Guidance and Family Therapy she provides often involves work on the development of communication strategies, as well as more educational approaches. Typically, individual child and family therapy, education and Cognitive-Behavioural (CBT) strategies are provided to children in combination with Parental Guidance work with parents.

Additional Information

Outside of her work in private practice, much of her time has been taken up with raising two very active children, placing her in roles as hockey, ringette and baseball mom for many years. As they are growing up, finishing high school and pursuing University educations, there is less time spent as a sport chauffeur (thankfully!) and more time to make travel plans and follow her daughter in the National Ringette League.  Go Turbos!

Over the years Dr. Sunseth has been an active volunteer with a number of community organizations, including committees at a local church, at local schools – including the Strong Start program to assist young children learning to read – and with local community and sports association boards.
